Burnita Cavitt MARION-Burnita Cavitt, 87, of Marion passed away at 7:29 PM, Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Bill Rucker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Energy. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home of may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Cavitt was born July 30, 1920 in Rockford, Illinois to Ed and Myrtle (Norman) Thompson. She married John Cavitt on August 20, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; he preceded her in death on March 15, 1991. Survivors include her children, Jerry and Sandy Cavitt of Herrin, Sue and Ted Whalen of Marion, Teresa and Tim Emmerson of Grand Tower; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ray Thompson; and sisters, Lucille Joyner and Monteclaire Robertson. Mrs. Cavitt was a member of the First Christian Church in Marion for 79 years. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.
