MARION-Bonnie Lou Palmer, 48, of Marion passed away at 6:54 PM, Monday, February 28, 2005 at St. Mary`s Hospital in Centralia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 4, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Marion with Dr. Joey Brent and Joe Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion and after 9:00 AM, Friday morning at the church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Memorials may be made to Special Olympics; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Palmer was born on October 20, 1956 in Marion, Illinois to Russell D. and Jessie (Kirby) Fisher. She married Richard Palmer on April 3, 1982 in Marion, Illinois. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Jane and Justin Rogowski of Carterville; daughter, Rachel Katherine Palmer at home in Marion; her parents, Russell D. and Jessie Fisher of Marion; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Richard Thompson and Beverly and Allen Dean all of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Ellen Fisher of Pittsburg; uncle, Gene Schneider of DuQuoin; and nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a teacher and physical therapist assistant for the mentally and severely handicapped in the Wabash Valley Special Education District. She had teaching degrees in K through 9 and Special Education. She was an active member of the Marion First Baptist Church where she served on the Reception Committee and taught Bible School for many years. She loved tennis and baseball. Her family was her life.
