Bonnie Isabelle (Cox) Chitty, aged 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 31, 2024. Born on September 7, 1933, in South Bend, Indiana, Bonnie spent most of her life in Marion, Illinois, where she lived a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her friends and family.
Bonnie was the beloved wife of Floyd Lee Chitty, who predeceased her 30 years ago. She was a devoted mother to Floyd Stephen Chitty, a cherished grandmother to Stephen W. Chitty and David N. Chitty. Bonnie is also survived by her brother Robert “Billy” William Cox and his wife, Helen Cox, her nieces Diane Cox Blakeman, Karen Cox Fransen and Theresa Cox Durkee. She was predeceased by her sister Donna Jean Cox and her parents, Miles Floyd Cox and Marjorie Krill Cox.
Bonnie's life was defined by her generosity, faith, and love for those around her. She was a chiropractic assistant where she helped many in Marion, a homemaker and a prayer warrior for anyone in need. She frequently had prayer meetings in her beautiful home.
In the 1960’s Bonnie helped run the family’s drag strip and even did a little drag racing herself. She loved to cook for her family and was known for her peach cobbler. She loved to camp and travel with her family. One of her dreams was to go to Hawaii, which she did in 1996.
A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held in a private ceremony at a later date.
Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her, but her memory and the impact of her prayers and her life will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
