Herrin – Bobby D. Thompson, 60, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 12:57 P.M. at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Bobby was born April 5, 1952 in Creal Springs the son of Denzel and Inez (Lenon) Thompson. He married Alice Smart on May 15, 1976 in Creal Springs and together they have shared over 36 years of marriage. He worked as a self-employed masonry contractor and was a former Pastor at the Word of Life Church in Herrin. He is survived by his; Wife – Alice Thompson of Herrin Son – Anthony Thompson of Herrin Two Grandsons; Gavin Thompson of Herrin Jeffrey Thompson of Alabama Parents – Denzel and Inez Thompson of Creal Springs Two Sisters; Barbara Vinson of Marion Trish and Greg Jennings of Johnston City Several nieces and nephews Preceded by his son Michael Thompson. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Deon Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
