Billy Lee Jones, 83, passed away at 12:42pm, Wednesday January 22, 2025, at DePaul hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri.

Billy was born on Tuesday July 22, 1941, in Goreville, Illinois to William and Vesta (Barringer) Jones.

He married Judy Erlene Allen on May 13, 1959, at St. Charles, Illinois Courthouse. They shared 65 years of marriage.

Bill was a hardworking man, a simple man, he would work, come home to his family and go to work again. A kind soul, he would give the shirt off his back for someone and would give his last dollar to help somebody else. A gentle individual, he had a huge heart for animals, he would save cats and dogs on the side of the road and either take them to the shelter but more frequently take them home. A friendly guy, he treated everyone equally and graciously and had many friends that he visited weekly. We never went to a Sunday dinner where someone didn't come up and talk to Bill. A humorous character, he couldn’t go long without cracking a joke and smiling ear to ear. Overall, he was an honorable man for how he treated his family and how he carried himself.

Billy worked for St. Charles Kitchen, Ways’ Towing, Midwest Blacktop, Allied Asphalt, RW Dunteman, Rotercoller and HB Blacktop. In 1993, he relocated to southern Illinois to start his trucking company business, Billy Jones Trucking, which later became Judy Jones Trucking. He hauled for numerous companies in southern Illinois including Southern Illinois Asphalt, George Jones Excavating, and ET Simonds Construction Company.

His hobbies involve eating out with his associates and friends at Huddle House, Riley’s Smokehouse, Walts, KB’s BBQ, and Cracker Barrel. Thank you to the waitress’ and waiters who served him, he appreciated those greatly who got his order right and if his order wasn't right, you certainly knew. He loved gardening (food-specifically tomatoes and flowers-specifically roses), working on his trucks, playing with his pets, telling jokes, fishing, and most importantly picking at his wife, Judy.

Survivors include his wife (Judy Jones), his brother Delbert and (Joann) Jones, his daughters Tammy and (Gary) Huckabee, Terry and (Jim) O’Connor and Kristy Postawa, his grandchildren Amy and (Jason) Lopez, Amanda and (Tim) Willoughby, Gary Jr Huckabee, Nicole O’Connor (Joey McCall), Micheal O’Connor, Gavrielle Postawa (Jadden Hollis), and Corlissa Postawa, his great grandchildren Kyle and Nathan Willoughby and Trenton Lopez and numerous other friends and family.

Those reuniting with him are his dad William L Jones, his mom Vesta B Jones, his brothers, George and (Phyllis) Jones, James and (Betty) Jones, his son Dewayne, his pets Jet, Raisin, Maddie and other family members and friends.

He was associated with Valley View Baptist Church, Teamsters Local 330 and Boilermakers.
