GOREVILLE-Bill L. Durham, 81, of Goreville passed away at 3:26 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend R. G. Null and Brother Dale Billingsley officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville.
Mr. Durham was born October 23, 1926 in Johnson County, Illinois to Brad and Ethel (Hudgens) Durham. He married Sherry Parrish on December 25, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Goreville; together they shared 49 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry of Goreville; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Jay Merchant of Goreville; daughter, Jackie Durham of Goreville; grandchildren, Lance Merchant and fiancé, Jessica Pind of Goreville and Kelsey Merchant of Goreville; and one great grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vick, Bobby Jo, Ned and Ward Durham; and sisters, Emma Wilkins and Myrtle Dean.
Mr. Durham previously served as the Mayor of Goreville and for 30 years he was a Democrat Precinct Committeeman. He loved to watch his grandkids play sports, drink coffee with his friends and spending time with his buddy Henry James and the gang. He worked as an livestock and agriculture dealer and auctioneer.
