Betty Speers

Marion-Betty Jean Speers, 91, passed away at 2:40pm on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Betty was born on March 18, 1922 in Herrin to Troy and Mable (Hepple) Sherertz. She married Denzil Speers on September 12, 1942 in Jackson, Missouri. He survives of Marion. Betty was a homemaker and a member of Martha Circle at the Zion Church. She enjoyed crafting and loved to travel. Survivors include: Husband-Denzil Speers of Marion Children-Sharon Askew of Marion Grandchildren: Tammy McMinn and Tony Berggen of New Zealand Micia and husband Bill Beard of Chaffee, MO Lynn Ann and husband Jeff Davis of Mascoutah, IL Beth White and husband Phil of Niceville, FL Great grandchildren: Chad Beard Adam Beard Ethan Davis Samantha Davis Kasey White Great-great grandchildren- Chase and Gabriel She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Bratten; son-in-law, David Askew and grandson, Denny Askew. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Holst officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 9am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
