Marion-Betty Lou Richey, 87, passed away at 6:52am on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Herrin Hospital. Betty was born on August 18, 1927 in Marion to Guy and Katherine (Lowe) Key. She married Vernon Richey on January 24, 1946 and he preceded her in death. Betty volunteered at Heartland Regional Medical Center, she loved working there and the people loved her. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and going out to eat, she always appreciated her servers. She will be missed by all. Survivors include: Daughters-Patricia Richey Cox and husband David and Jeanne Richey Stokes and husband Ken Grandchildren-Brandis Cox Knight and husband Patrick, David Cox, Derek Cox, Kerri Jo Stokes Hill, Benjamin Stokes and wife Jill and Tyson Mele and wife Ashley Great grandchildren-Riley, Cole, Addison, Austin and Emily She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Marianne Richey Orr; brothers, John Key and Kenneth Key and sisters, Beatrice Key Hudgens, Imogene Key Ragain and Gertie Key Earl Per Betty’s wishes, she will be cremated and graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11am at Rose Hill Cemetery with Tyson Mele officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the volunteer services at Heartland Regional Medical Center and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ PO Box 411/ Marion, IL 62959.
