Betty Ramsey

November 7, 1924 — December 10, 2020

Betty Ramsey, 96, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Brookdale West End, in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born on November 7, 1924 in Metropolis, Illinois to George R. and Gula (Hedden) Ditterline.  She married The Rev. Hubert Eugene (Gene) Ramsey on April 16, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Mrs. Ramsey was a gifted musician who employed her talents as a church musician and choral director in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) congregations served by her late husband during more than 30 years of his pastoral ministry in the Midwest and West Virginia.  She also worked for several years as a District Advisor for the Girl Scouts of America in Michigan and Missouri.  She continued to serve in volunteer roles with the congregations where she faithfully worshipped after her husband’s death.  Mrs. Ramsey shared the gift of music and humor with the staff and her fellow residents at Brookdale West End.  She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Ramsey was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her daughters Rachel Geiersbach, Ruth (Michael) Linville and Elizabeth (Vincent) Windom; her brother Terry Ditterline; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on  Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Roy Pepmiller officiating.   Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.  Final arrangements were made through Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
