Betty Jo Doerr MARION-Betty Jo Doerr, 82, of Marion passed away at 2:54 PM, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at her home with her husband at her side. With respect to Betty’s personal wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to ALS Association for the fight of Lou Gehrig’s Disease or the Muscular Dystrophy Association; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Betty was born January 29, 1926 in Granite City, Illinois to Joseph and Lola (Luna) Bushong. She married Dean Hargett, who preceded her in death in 1972; she later married James Doerr on February 13, 1976 in Murphysboro and together they shared 32 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Jim of Marion; brother-in-law, Charlie Hargett of DuQuoin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Sue Doerr of Mulkeytown; and sister-in-law, Peggy Klein of Sedro-Woolley, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and her grandparents, Zach and Maggie Luna. Betty was a member of the Lake of Egypt Christian Church. She loved to play golf and she was an avid Chicago Bulls fan.
