Betty Emmerson Marion-Betty Emmerson, 87, of Marion, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Parkway Estates. Visitation for Mrs. Emmerson will be on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 11am-1pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral services will follow, at the funeral home, at 1pm with Reverend Jim Holderfield officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Betty was born on October 20, 1923 in Marion to Albert & Edna (Sparks) Troutman. She married Robert Emmerson on April 28, 1970 in Marion; he preceded her on Tuesday, March 7, 2006. Survivors include her children, Robin & Jim Holland of Lexington, KY, Robert & Linda Woodard of Marion, Tom & Debbie Emmerson of Metropolis and Tim & Terri Emmerson of Grand Tower; grandchildren, Chris & Amy Holland and Jamie & Billy Parks, and great-grandchild, Joshua Holland. Betty was preceded by her parents; husband; brother, Albert “Doc” Troutman and sister, Alline Neely. Mrs. Emmerson was a lifelong resident of Marion and a previous resident of Parkway Estates, where she enjoyed her many friends she made there. Parkway Estates provided Sunday worship services for its residents, which she took full advantage of on a weekly basis. Betty also enjoyed playing bingo and her daily 2 mile walk. She was a homemaker of the Baptist faith.
