Bessie Mae Shearer CREAL SPRINGS-Bessie Mae Shearer, 87, of Creal Springs passed away at 11:02 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend David Hancock officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery in Creal Springs. Memorials may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Shearer was born on June 18, 1920 in Parker City, IL to William and Ada (Lowery) Vaughn. She married Chester Shearer on September 10, 1949; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2001. Survivors include her son, Daryl Shearer of Creal Springs, daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Michael Harmon of Marion, and son, Dale Shearer of Creal Springs; grandchildren, Andrea Shearer of Marion and Alan Shearer of Creal Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Vertis Vaughn of Marion; sisters-in-law, Avolene Vaughn, Betty Vaughn, Iris Sanders, Melba Hood, and Phillis Hill; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Marge Shearer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Herbert, Walter, Ray, Loren, and Richard Vaughn; infant brother, Herschell Vaughn and infant sister, Helen Vaughn; and granddaughter Angela Shearer. Bessie was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for forty-five years. She was a homemaker; she loved to spend time with her family, working in her church, drawing, sewing, and working in the garden. She will be missed by all.
