Bess Miller MARION- Bess Miller, 94, of Marion passed away at 8:55 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Victor Long officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Hands of Hope Clinic and the First United Methodist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Miller was born November 10, 1913 in Advance, Missouri to Samuel and Emma (Browning) Musgraves. She married J. Lee “Pop” Miller on October 3, 1931 in Belle City, MO; he preceded her in death on February 24, 1999. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Harlean “Tickie” Miller of Marion; son-in-law, Jim Barton of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Fred and Kari Barton, Anna Dunlap, Stephanie and Brad Opel, Lori and Curtis Martin and David and Tani Miller; and great grandchildren, Alex, Kelsi and Brady Martin, Ryanne, Kaylee, Taryn and Kai Miller, Kelly, Anne and Emily Barton, Tyler and Dane Opel, and Chelsi and Sara Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Marilyn Barton and three brothers, Arthur, Amos and Manuel Musgraves. Mrs. Miller was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. As a young lady in high school in Advance, Missouri she was a star basketball player and scholar. She loved to cook and garden with “Pop”. She cooked for the Marion Rotary Club for several years. She and “Pop” loved to play cards and were in a Bridge Club. She loved her family and her family loved her, she will be greatly missed.
