Bernis Jackson MARION-Bernis Jackson, 91, of Marion formerly of Salinas, California passed away at 5:45 AM, Thursday, April 5, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Dan Boyd officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Blairsville Cemetery in Blairsville, Illinois. Mr. Jackson was born on November 1, 1915 in Plymouth, Texas to W.W. and Etta (Smith) Jackson. He married Opal Harbison in Syre, Oklahoma in 1940 and together they shared 65 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2005 He is survived by daughter Nancy Brandon of Marion; and daughter and son-in-law LaNell and Reverend R. G. Walls of Marion; grandchildren, Annette Walls, Ronnie Walls, Kim and Doug Janz, Erica and Jason Claunch, Launa and Brandon "BJ" Davis, and Celeste Jackson; great grandchildren, Jacob Janz, DJ Janz, Jr., Ashley Hart and Amanda Hart; family friend, Dennis Brandon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Opal; son, Billy Carroll Jackson; brother Earl Jackson. Mr. Jackson was retired from Spreckels Sugar Company.
