Bernard Lee O’Connor MARION–Bernard Lee O’Connor, 62, of Marion passed away at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend William O’Connor and Pastor Bob Workman officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion with Military honors provided by the Marion American Legion, Marion V.F.W. and The National Guard. Mr. O’Connor was born September 21, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Alfred and Elizabeth (Gross) O’Connor. He married Barbara Hellberg in Paducah, Kentucky on February 21, 1989 and they enjoyed 19 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Barbara O’Connor of Marion; sons, Bernard Lee O’Connor and Wayne A. O’Connor both of Marion; daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Paul James of Spillertown; grandchildren, Danny Wayne O’Connor, David Ray O’Connor, Julie O’Connor, and Dakota James; brothers and sisters, Bill and Harriett O’Connor, of Thompsonville, James and Jackie O’Connor of West Frankfort, Donna Ardrey of Herrin, Elizabeth O’Connor of Tennessee, Robert O’Connor of Marion, Janet O’Connor of Hefer, David and Crystal O’Connor, Henry and Sherry O’Connor, Harley and Amy O’Connor, Richard and Ester O’Connor, Kenny O’Connor, Ronald O’Connor, and Johnny O’Connor all of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scotty O’Connor; and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Harold Hellberg. Mr. O’Connor worked for O’Connor’s Radiator business. He served his country in the Army and the National Guard, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a member of the Marion V.F.W. and American Legion. He will be missed by all who knew him.
