GOREVILLEBeatrice Blackwell, 88, of Goreville passed away at 8:33 AM, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Herrin Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Brent Schuetz and Reverend R. G. Null officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Mrs. Blackwell was born on April 29, 1921 in Dunklin County, Missouri to Joe and Marie (Tolar) Huggins. She married James Blackwell; together they have shared 31 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, James of Goreville; step-son Greg Blackwell and his friend, Jeanette of Mattoon; five step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janell Lee, Betty and Joe Collins and Barbara and Larry Maine all of Covington, Kentucky and Martha and Jack Davis of Goreville; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Jennie Huggins and Mary Huggins; and special friends, Fred and Mary Kilmer, Sherry Durham, Michelle Billingsley, Carol Trexler and Lois Hancock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; brothers, Thomas E., Claudedean, James Dean, Elmer Dale, J. E. and Glen Huggins; sisters, Ivabell Nething, Ruby Jewell Huggins, Ruby Nell Huggins and Allice Huggins; two infant siblings; and step-son, Gary Blackwell.
Mrs. Blackwell was a homemaker and she owned and operated her own business for many years. She was the Greyhound Bus ticket agent in Goreville and she volunteered at the Marion VA Hospital. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
