Barbara Nell English

Barbara N. English, age 85, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois.

Barbara was born December 27, 1937 in Island, Kentucky, a daughter of James V. and Verda M. (Meyers) Massey. Barb grew up and graduated from High School in Island, KY. She worked at Mead Johnson in Evansville, IN, doing administrative work. She got married in 1958 and started her family. While being a stay-at-home mom, she did income tax work and sewing. Barb moved to Marion, IL in 1963. She started working in accounting at Marion Pepsi, retiring in 2007. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Cross Word puzzles and going for rides in the car. Barb was known by all as "The Momma" and was of Baptist Faith.

She is survived by four daughters, Angela D. Ferguson of Tampa, FL, Shannon G. Hayes of Stiritz, IL, Susan R. (Simeon) Daniel of Oregon City, OR, and Rebecca L. (Donald) Norris of Marion, IL; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Fleener of PA and Janet Thompson of Lakeland, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, James V. Massey and Verda M. Babbs, and her Stepfather Henry Babbs.

Visitation will be Monday, July 10th, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, IL. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cutsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
