Barbara Ann Swafford MARION–Barbara Ann Swafford, 76, of Marion passed away at 11:33 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Linda Coulson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or Zion United Church of Christ LOGOS; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Swafford was born March 22, 1932 in Galatia, Illinois to Kenneth and Beulah (Smith) Brodell Manier. She married Samuel “Jack” Swafford on October 3, 1970; together they shared 34 years of marriage before his death on May 13, 2005. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Rains of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Keith Soldner of Marion; daughter-in-law, Connie Swafford of Bloomington; grandchildren, Cindy Rains, Sandra and Dave Blum, Kevin and Rachel Soldner, Scott and Chasity Rains, Tena and Michael Karas, Anne Swafford, Doug and Erin Draper and Corey Draper; thirteen great grandchildren and one due in May; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Willis “Butch” Russell of Johnston City; brother, John Manier of Johnston City; step-sister and husband, Kay and Gilbert Jackson of Marion; step-sister, Nancy Peebles of Carrier Mills; and half-brother and wife, Dennis and Sally Manier of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Benny Rains; step-son, Duane Swafford; and sister, Connie Belcher. Mrs. Swafford was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and an active with LOGOS and Martha Circle. She previously worked at Ben’s Outlet Shoe Store. She was past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge.
