Johnston City-Austin W. Holmes, 25, passed away at 11:03am on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Austin was born on December 2, 1988 in Herrin to Carl and Leisa (Ray) Holmes. He married Brittany Minton. She survives of Johnston City. Austin’s hobbies included hunting and fishing and he loved spending time with his kids. He will be missed by all. Survivors include: Wife-Brittany Holmes of Johnston City Children: Drake Holmes of Marion Tucker Holmes of Marion Kori Holmes of Marion Kallen Karnes of Johnston City Khilar Karnes of Johnston City Parents: Doug & Leisa Holmes of Creal Springs Sister-Detsonie Davis of Creal Springs Brother-Bubba Holmes and Kim Phelps of Herrin Brother-Derrick Holmes and Jessica of Marion Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gilbert & Louise Holmes; maternal grandparents, William D. & Lola Ray; sister, Redonna Holmes and uncles, Donnie Holmes, Eugene Holmes and Jimmy Holmes Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Matt Troxel officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to his children c/o Leisa Holmes and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
