Anna Mae Thompson CREAL SPRINGS-Anna Mae Thompson, 73, of Creal Springs passed away at 4:15 PM, Monday, June 8, 2009 at St. Louis University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Edward “Shorty” Alsip officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Mrs. Thompson was born on March 20, 1936 in Paulton, Illinois to Beckford and Ruth Mae (Shadowens) Garris. She married Ardell Needham, who preceded her in death; and later married Jessie A. Thompson, who preceded her in death on August 25, 1998. Survivors include her children, Jim and Vickie Needham, Jackie Needham, Jerry and Tammy Needham, Judy Short, Tammy and Scott Elliott, Cathy Thompson and Bill Raines, Linda and Darrel Harner, Janet and Rex Smith, Jessie and Tim Andrews and Jessie and Melissa Thompson; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Alice Garris; and sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Harvey Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; infant daughter, Peggy Ann Needham; daughter, Sheryl Forrest; brother, Virgil Garris; and sisters, Oretta Smith, Velda Smith, Roccile Creekpaum, Pauline Thompson and Helen Hellberg. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Northern Baptist Church and attended Scottsboro Church of God. She was a homemaker. She loved to work in her garden and spend time with her family especially her grandchildren.
