Anna Mae Dodds
MARION-Anna Mae (Cash) Dodds, 92, of Marion passed away at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville.
Anna Mae was born the fifth daughter of Sam and Minnie Alice (Kelley) Cash on Sept 4, 1917. She attended Lincoln & Washington grade schools and graduated from Marion Township High School in 1934. She also attended business extension classes. She married George W. Dodds on Sept 17, 1938; he preceded her in death on May 20, 2005.
To this union were born four children, Elaine and Rodman Hancock, Alice Schoppenthau, Georganne and Terry Mullis and John and Linda Dodds; nine grandchildren, Kelliann and Mike McSparin, Karen Hancock and Bill Benerman, Tina and Larry Adams, Toni Rametta, Nick Rametta, Kate and Todd Kresser, Isaiah Mullis, Camden Dodds & Chase Dodds; seven great grandchildren, Henry & Anna Grace Benerman, Lauren Andrew & Garrett Adams, Austin Rametta and Devin Rametta; step great grandchildren, Josh McSparin and Shauna and Rob Yancey; step great great grandchildren, Trenton Yancey and Hunter McSparin; brother in law, Lawrence Bloodworth; sister-in-law, Dorothy Thompson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in Death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law, Rudi Schoppenthau; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Robert Russell, Dimple and Bill Rodgers, Myrtle and Dow Harper, Mary Eva and Homer Askew and Bertha Lee Bloodworth and Warren Thompson.
In addition to being a full time caregiver for her family she assisted her husband in the early years of his business, radio station W.G.G.H. Later she was a Teachers aid at Longfellow grade school for 10 years. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery for 25 years. She also was a sunbeam leader and G.A. leader and YWA leader. She excelled at all homemaking skills.
