Alona M. Eastman GOREVILLE – Alona M. Eastman, 98, of Goreville, passed away at 2:49 AM, Saturday, December 25, 2010 at the Marion Rehab and Nursing Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. With Pastor Glenn Webb officiating assisted by Reverend Gordon Lambert and Greg Eastman. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Mrs. Eastman was born on January 8, 1912 in Elvira Township in Johnson County to John & Maude (Craig) Ray. She married Harold Eastman and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1989. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, H. Richard & Betty Eastman of Marion, John & Ann Eastman of Marion, and Barry & Donna Eastman of Goreville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bea Downey of Matino, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eastman was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joan Ragain; granddaughter, Cindy Mitchell; brother, Alma “Pete” Ray; and sister, Hester Hester. She belonged to the Community of Faith Church; she enjoyed working in the orchards and spending time with family. The family always looked forward to her Sunday chicken dinners.
