Alma Small MARION-Alma Small, 96, of Marion passed away at 11:10 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Herrin Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Small was born on October 21, 1909 in Marion, Illinois to Adolph M. and Lurena (Shellenberger) Spitznass. She married H. Paul Small on May 31, 1941 in Jasper, Tennessee, together they shared 32 years of marriage before his death on December 6, 1973. Survivors include cousins in the Marion area, Lenora and Bud Graul, Margaret Thomas, Gayle Kee; and other family members. Mrs. Small was a member of Zion United Church of Christ all of her life. Her grandfather was founder of Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. She had formerly worked for CIPS as a secretary, and the Ordnance Plant during World War II in the Legal Department and for the Bank of Egypt approximately 20 years until she retired.
