Allen Joseph Knuth Johnston City, IL-Allen J. Knuth, 67, of Johnston City, went home to be with the Lord at 10:35 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Herrin Hospital after an extensive illness. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 11 AM - Noon at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church; 1409 East DeYoung, Marion, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Noon at the Church with Pastor Tim Land officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Helena, Montana. Memorials are suggested to the Church or WVCY America Television & Radio Station in Wisconsin. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Allen was born on October 25, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to Walter & Ethel (Fiala) Knuth. He married Donna Jones on July 17, 1976 in New Berlin, WI; together they shared 34 ½ years. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; sister, Lynn & Ed Pionke; 3 nieces; 3 nephews and several cousins. Allen was preceded in death by his parents. He worked at WVCY in Milwaukee, a Christian radio station, as Chief Engineer. He was also a member of the New Life Singers, a musical group associated with the station, which is how he met his wife, Donna. He moved to Suring, WI to work at WRVM as Chief Engineer; also helping to construct WSCO-TV where he was Operations Manager & Chief Engineer. After an extensive career in radio & television, throughout the states of Wisconsin, Ohio & Montana, Allen relocated to Marion, IL and took a position at WTCT as Chief Engineer. He became an avid Amateur Radio Operator after getting his first license at the age of 16; his call letters were WA9BFL. He later went on to acquire his Extra Class License in Helena, MT with the call sign KJ7EN. He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church. We will all fondly remember his love for music. He enjoyed singing and playing his ukulele, accordion & harmonica. Allen will be missed.
