Alice Mae Kirby GOREVILLE-Alice Mae Kirby, 72, of Goreville passed away at 5:10 AM, Sunday, June 21, 2009 at her home in Goreville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Dr. Ron Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM, until 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Kirby was born August 10, 1936 in Johnson County to Virgil and Myrl (Murphy) Stewart. She married Gary Kirby in Coronada, California on December 22, 1956; together they shared 52 years of marriage. Gary survives of Goreville. Survivors include her husband, Gary of Goreville; her children, Kevin & Lorna Kirby of Goreville, Teresa and Robin Pauls of Marion, and Kirk Kirby of Goreville; grandchildren, Cody Pauls, Kirby Pauls, Karra Kirby, Chisum Kirby, and Hannah Kirby; bother, Ivan “Bo” & Connie Stewart of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Kirby attended First Baptist Church of Goreville, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a 4H leader for over 20 years, she served on the U of I 4H and Youth Extension Council, and she was Superintendent of the Union County Fair Junior Department for 15 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
