Alice Janette "Sue" McNail

September 22, 1930 — September 8, 2017

Alice Janette “Sue” McNail, 86, formerly of Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 8, 2017 at her home in Longview, Texas surrounded by family. Born September 22, 1930 in Marion, Illinois, she was the daughter of George and Velma Morse Groves.   She graduated from the Johnston City High School in 1948.  She married Robert McNail on her twenty-first birthday, September 22, 1951.  September 22nd continued to be special with the birth of her first grandchild on that date in 1975. Bob and Sue’s 66 years of marriage were overflowing with love, fun and family. They were blessed with two daughters Vicki and Kim and later by their marriage two sons, Clay Jaco and David Doron.  “Nana” was further blessed with four grandchildren Matthew Jaco, Todd Jaco, Anthony Doron and Akita Doron Cano and four great grandchildren, Garret Jaco, Seann Cano, Jesse Cano and Hazle Cano. Sue, along with her sister Nadine, was gifted by God upon the death of her mother to provide the love and comfort of a surrogate mother in the rearing of her five youngest siblings; Charles Groves, John Groves, Carl Groves, Jack Groves and Cheryl Groves Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings; George “Buddy” Groves; Irene Groves Smith; William Michael Groves; and James Wendell Groves. Sue retired in July of 1994 after driving a school bus for 23 years for the Marion School District. The highlight of her summer was the four grandchildren coming for an extended visit which definitely kept her on her toes.  She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, camping, traveling and southern gospel music. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was deeply loved. Her life was centered around Bob, Vicki, Kim, and family.  Many family members came to be with her during the last few weeks of her illness and her death.  She was also blessed with the wonderful hospice care provided by Heart to Heart of Longview, Texas. Visitation will be held at the Blue Funeral Home, Saturday, September 16 at 12:00. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 with internment at Coal Bank Springs Baptist Church.
