Alice Ellis
MARION-Alice Ellis, 85, of Marion passed away at 3:10 PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Parrish Park Baptist Church in Marion with Reverend David Schlag officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be at Mounds National Cemetery. Military rites will be held at the church by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147 conducting the services. Memorials may be made to the Parrish Park Baptist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mrs. Ellis was born on August 24, 1921 in Grant Towns, Missouri to Lucas T. and Ethel (Leeper) Sooter. She married Verle Ellis on December 29, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico; together they shared 46 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Verle of Marion; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Jane and Dan Martin of California and Sharlene M. and Daniel Puckett of Canada; grandchildren, Alicia C. Martin, Steve Martin, David L. Martin, Christine Puckett, Jennifer Puckett and Warren Ellis; great grandchildren, Caleb Martin, Sierra Martin, Teresa Jane Martin, Grace Martin, Caleb Ellis and April Ellis; adopted son and his wife, Benjamen and Beaulah Sizemore; and adopted grandchildren, Benjamen and Lori Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Mrs. Ellis was loyal member of the Parrish Park Baptist Church. She served her country with the United States Army WAC Detachment during World War II. She previously worked as a billing clerk for the Federal Government.
Her church and family meant the world to her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
