Creal Springs Alfred Bradley, 81 of Creal Springs passed away at 9:30 AM on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at his home. Memorial services for Alfred will be on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Noon at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Bill Rucker officiating. A time of gathering for friends and family will precede the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois or 1st Christian Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Alfred was born on January 17, 1930 in New Haven, IL to Alfred & Ethel (Meracle) Bradley. He married Mary Lou Lockler on July 15, 1951 in Marion; they had just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mr. Bradley is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Judy Bradley of Marion and Rebecca & Barry Simmons of Marion; grandchildren, Chris Snyder & Fiancé’ Marci Skelcher of Goreville, Rob & Jaime Snyder of Henderson, NV, Andrew & Tami Snyder of Paducah, Gabrielle Simmons of Marion and Courtney Simmons of Marion; great-grandchildren, Landon, Chase and Grayden Snyder & Caleb, Colton and Casey Skelcher; sisters, Edna Mae Earl, Caroline Taylor and Shirley Christiansen; brothers, Bill & Debbie Bradley and Dean & Doris Wade. Alfred is preceded by his parents; 1 brother and 1 sister. Mr. Bradley was a member of the 1st Christian Church. He was a former painting contractor with Paul Sprague for 20 years and then worked as a coal miner. Alfred loved Kentucky Wildcats basketball and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He was a member of the 101st Airborne in the US Army. Mr. Bradley formerly raised horses and loved to ride. He enjoyed the “country life” and working hard. He deeply loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
