Alan Holmes

Marion Alan Holmes, 75, of Marion passed away in Heartland Regional Medical Center Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2:00 AM with his family by his side. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Ivan Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in Coal Bank Cemetery. AT time of gathering for family and friends will precede the funeral service starting at Noon Sunday at the funeral home. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. Alan was born in Williamson County to the late Orbie & Dixie (Whiteside) Holmes on Wednesday, July 7, 1937. He married Linda Sue Beasley, at the age of 22, in Marion on Friday, November 20, 1959; they were just shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary. Mr. Holmes is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sue; children, Anita Jordan & fiancé’ Charlie Watson and Cindy & Keith Bailey; grandchildren, Stephanie Jordan and Treat Rich; siblings, Gordon & Judy Holmes, Anthony & Linda Holmes and Sue & C. Wayland Swan; sister-in-law, Winnie Payne and several nieces & nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rudy Holmes and grandson, Justin Jordan. He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA #2420. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and attending auctions. Alan loved spending time with his family and friends.
