Ace L. Harris JOHNSON COUNTY-Ace L. Harris, 81, of Terre Haute, Indiana formerly of Johnson County passed away June 19, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Cana Cemetery, Goreville with Reverend Larry Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Mr. Harris was born September 28, 1927 in Johnson County, Illinois to Troy and Ruby (Zimmerson) Harris. Survivors include his wife Pauline (Foley) Harris; sons, Stephen Paul Harris, Gary Van Harris, and Michael Dean Harris; step-sons, John Piper, Michael Piper, Jess Piper, Jim Piper, and Richard Laswell; step-daughter, Rita McCombs; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Dallas Leon Harris and Everett Ray Harris; and sisters, Melba Perry, Viola Reis, Rosella Francis, Doris Ann Haskall, Linda Lou Dietrich, and Barbara Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two wives, Dora Lee (Huff) Harris and Patsy Piper Harris. Mr. Harris was a career United States Navy veteran having served his country for 20 years. After that he was employed by the Federal Prison System and then worked security for St. Mary of the Woods College. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church at Clinton, Indiana, Marion VFW Post 1301, and the Saline Masonic Lodge, AF&AM at Goreville.
