Marion-John L. Grant, 90, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Herrin Hospital.
John was born in February 9, 1926 in Marion to Otto and Ora (Chamness) Grant. He married Leesa Stilley on December 25, 1951 in Herrin and they shared over 64 years of marriage. She survives.
John served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman during WWII on the ship 954 and LCI. He worked for over 35 years at GTE as a switching tech. John enjoyed bluegill fishing, gardening and feeding the neighbors. He had chickens and would donate the eggs to the Lighthouse Shelter. John loved spending time with his family and loved his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Sharon Suzanne Grant; brothers, Don Grant, Carl Grant, Wesley Grant and two infant brothers and two sisters, Ann Dickson and Ruth Snider.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of service at the funeral home.
