Goreville-Mary E. Vancil, 99, passed away at 12:50am on Thursday, August 07, 2014 at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Mary was born on August 19, 1914 in Metropolis to Lewis and Lulu (Phillips) Trovillion. She married John Vancil, Sr. on July 24, 1932. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2002.
Survivors include her four daughters; Sally Vancil of Ottawa, Barbara Ryden of Streamwood, Judy (Gary) Maze of Goreville and Peggy (Josef) Curiel of Sebring, FL; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Gen Trovillion of Sparks, NV. She is also survived by four nieces and a nephew.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, John Vancil, Jr; two grandsons, John Vancil III and Matthew Vancil; brother, Robert Trovillion; sister and brother-in-law, Everett and Margaret Broadway; son-in-law, Bill Ryden and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Merriman.
Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goreville and also a member of the Goreville Women’s Club for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 2pm at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. R.G. Null and Dr. Ron Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
