Rosemary McKinney

On the morning of February 13th 2021, Rosemary McKinney was called home to meet her savior and those she loved that passed before her.

Rosemary was born December 9, 1939 in Stonington, Illinois the daughter of Orville and Beulah (Greer) Cowell.  She married Delbert “Dean” McKinney in December, 1957.

Rosemary’s life can be defined by faith and family. She grew up poor but with an uncompromising work ethic. She experienced the ultimate heart ache of losing her daughter unexpectedly. She was blessed in many ways but knew life was a balance of joy and at times sorrow. She chose to focus on the former. Many many more smiles than tears. If she held a certain opinion on a subject, you would know clearly where she stood. If you needed to cry there was compassion, if you wanted to laugh she helped bring it out. Rosemary McKinney showed love and received love. She was amazing, she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Dean McKinney, her nearly life-long companion. Her son Ron McKinney and 4 grandchildren she loved as much as her own, Greg Szabo, Matt Szabo, Rowan McKinney and James McKinney. Also, many other relatives and countless friends she made at various phases of her life. She is preceded in death by her Parents and daughter – Dianna Jo Szabo.

The family is honoring Rosemary’s wish to be cremated.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

A very beautiful lady who passed through my life only briefly but with a lasting impression. She loved the Lord greatly and was always eager to talk about Him. She loved her family and it was obvious they loved and cherished her as well.

I pray blessing and comfort to all
