John Randolph “Randy” Whitehead III

Pittsburg- John Randolph “Randy” Whitehead III, age 67, of Pittsburg, passed away at 9:55am on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Herrin Hospital.

Born on August 31, 1953, Randy was the son of Shirley Ann (Franklin) and John Randolph Whitehead Jr.  He proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Prior to his retirement, Randy had worked as a coal miner and later as a correctional officer.

Survivors include:

Daughter- Rindi and Joshua Brainard of Warrensburg, MO

Daughter- Amanda and Ben Goins of Herrin

Son- Jonathan Whitehead of Herrin

Five Grandchildren- Haven, Aiden, Elijah, Leyton, and Lexi

Sister- Sherry Christopher of Marion

Sister- Rhonda and David Daily of Bradenton, FL

Sister- Sandy Vinyard of Eddyville, KY

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  The family will hold a private inurnment at New Salem Cemetery at a later date.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
