Darrell Glen Smithson, age 66, of Buncombe, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, at 3:59 a.m. in his home.

Glen was born on June 28, 1954 in Turrell, Arkansas, a son of Tom Abe and Evelyn (Qualls) Smithson.  He worked in construction for many years for Lee Catt Construction, West Memphis, Arkansas.  Glen was a jokester, an animal lover, loved gardening, hunting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his four children, Carrie (Jeremy) Johnson of Centerton, Arkansas, Beverly Sue (Milton Ray) Baser of Hernando, Mississippi, Glenda (Micah) Thornton of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Josh (Ashley) Armstrong of Three Rivers, Michigan; his significant other, Gail Smithson of Tyronza, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; five siblings, Neil (Gloria) Smithson, Linda Kay (Lloyd) Holder, Rita Sue (Alvin) Ottman, Tommy Smithson and Randy (Phillis) Smithson, all of Buncombe; and his beloved pet, Jax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Smithson; and one sister, Marie Griffis.

Glen’s wishes were to be cremated and a private memorial service will be held.
