STONEFORT-Douglas E. Heavener, 66, of Stonefort passed away at 9:08 PM, Friday, October 9, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.

Douglas was born on December 6, 1942 in Salem, Illinois to Samuel Adell and Jean (Lemanchik) Heavener. He married Wilda Swan on March 21, 1997 in Marion; together they shared 12 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda of Stonefort; step-daughter and husband, Tammy and Jeff Whitehead of Pittsburg; daughter, Teresa McDonald of Pittsburg; step-granddaughters, Leah and Emily Whitehead; sisters and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Kenneth Stewart of Stonefort and Mary Ford of Centralia; and brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Priscilla Heavener of Mesa, Arizona and David and Beverly Heavener of St. Augustine, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Heavener and Richard Heavener; and sister, Donna Crain.

Douglas worked as an insurance adjuster for many years. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
