Ella H. Brewer

MARION-Ella H. Brewer, 89, of Marion passed away at 4:50 AM, Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Robert Metcalf officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Marion Carnegie Library; envelopes will be available during the service or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.

Ella was born March 13, 1920 in Creal Springs to Oscar and Jessie Howard. She married Leon Hodge and he preceded her in death; she later married Walter Brewer and he also preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Robert Metcalf of Mt. Vernon; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dionne Hodge of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Ray and Kay Hannebique, Michelle and Justin Page, Danielle Hannebique, Amy and Brian Jones, Tim and Robin Hodge, Scott and Clare Metcalf, Estrella and Edgar Nowak-Baca, Carla and Gerry Fernandez and Tatiana Nowak; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Joanne Hodge; and son, Steven Hodge.

Ella formerly worked at Sangamo Electric and later at Olin. She loved reading, gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Senior Circle.
