MARION–Betty Jane Foster, 77, of Marion passed away at 6:15 PM, Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Fountain Nursing Home in Marion.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Bob Nolen officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Illinois 62959.
Betty was born December 18, 1931 in Marion to Clyde and Eva (Jackson) Chamness. She married Billie Dean Foster on April 3, 1953; together they shared 56 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband; son, Gary Foster of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Louis Lamphere of Marion; grandson, Josh Foster; and two brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Betty was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church in Marion. She worked for Senior Citizens Program on Aging. She was a longtime member of the Sunshine Circle. She enjoyed life by gardening, canning and making candy around the holidays.
