Roscoe Carter
PITTSBURG-Roscoe L. Carter, 65, of Pittsburg, passed away at 6:00 AM, Monday, November 15, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Dale Barnhurst officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant `Poordo` Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Carter was born on October 13, 1939 to Charles and Helen (Cooper) Carter. He married Wanda `Gail` Dodson in Sikeston, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include sons, Michael T. Carter of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles Carter and Adam Ryan Carter both of Pittsburg; grandchild, Madison Carter; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lil Foster of Murphysboro; and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jack Hosp of Fairview Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Velma Carter; and one brother. Mr. Carter was a retired building contractor. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marion, where he helped build the school and the church. He loved raising fruit and working in his garden.
