I am sad to hear of Coach Elliott’s passing. He was a great coach and teacher. I’ll always remember him reading Beowulf to our class with voices and expressions like he was acting it out in a theater.

Praying for his family during this difficult time.

Joe was my very favorite teacher while I was in high school. I well remember his arrival on that first year of his MHS career. He was a wonderful teacher, and a good friend to our family. My step father was a good friend, and I would often come home to see Joe and my step dad (Don Ozment) sitting at our kitchen table laughing and talking.
My prayers are with you all. Take comfort in knowing that Mr. Elliott did indeed make a difference in many students lives. He will be missed.

The first time I met Mr. Elliott was the first day of English class when he positioned his chair on the left side of his desk, then proceeded to sit on the back of the chair. He then told us what was expected of us and what we could expect from him in class. Today, I’m a voice talent and his lessons still ring true today. Sincerest condolences and well wishes to the family. Rest in eternal peace Mr. Elliott.

Coach Elliott will be greatly missed. Never seen him without a smile and a kind word. And recently he would always bring up a basketball memory when I seen him at the golf course. So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your and our loss. Joe always made you feel special greeting each person personally by name at church, school and in public. He had a warmth and a beautiful voice that made you feel good inside. His voice also made you obey! I roomed beside Joe my first two years of teaching. When he was firing up his students with his expectations I was fearful I’d better do my best also lest he would come and have a serious conversation about teacher performance! He put me on the right path especially the hardest first two years. I thank him and Tickie Miller for that leadership in my professional life. He and and all of you were in my prayers during his illness. We are sad also and will miss him greatly.
