Sam, I love you with all my heart. You were such a dear friend and wonderful man. You always treated Dave and I like family. I will miss your laugh, your stories, and your hugs. As sorry as I am that you are gone, I’m even happier that you are with your Lord and Savior and with Steve. I’m just sorry we didn’t get to write that book, the one I wanted you to call “At Any Rate!” Love you and will miss you always!

Susan, I am so sorry for your loss. Sam was truly a unique man, he taught me so much about the newspaper business, how to lay out a paper, an art form now of the past, and how people loved a “Good News” newspaper of the Homemaker, and his 2 Cents column. Sam will always live on within the hearts and memories of so many in the community that he touched in one way or another. I can never have cup of coffee at McDonald’s without thinking of Sam. There will never be another one like him. He is now sharing his 2 cents with the angels. May God be with you and your family through this time of grief.

Words cannot express the sadness I feel over the loss of Sam. We shared a love for the newspaper business and shared the same philosophy about what we knew people wanted in their newspaper. I always felt Sam and I made a good team and we shared many laughs and good conversation over coffee and breakfast every Friday morning on publishing day. Sam was a mentor for many people, myself included. My deep condolences to Susan, his children and grandchildren during this sorrowful time. I will never forget Sam.
